Llanelli Town Centre will soon be transformed by £60million worth of investment. Five major projects are being developed which will showcase a wide range of arts, entertainment, leisure and business opportunities. Here is how the investment breaks down:

Llanelli Town Improvement Grant Scheme

dia_mallardsOne of the main elements of the ADREF scheme is a Town Improvement Grant to encourage improvements to the external visible elements of commercial property frontages in key areas. The Town Improvement Grant will enable eligible businesses to undertake improvements to property frontages.

Eligible Projects

Projects that improve the frontage of business premises where those projects:

  • ➢ Safeguard existing jobs/create new jobs
  • ➢ Based in Llanelli’s Town Centre Development Plan Area
  • ➢ Employ under 10 people and have a turnover of less than £1.36 million

Eligible Works

To include:

  • ➢ Replacement shop frontages
  • ➢ Re-rendering
  • ➢ New windows
  • ➢ Signage
  • ➢ Rain water goods
  • ➢ Painting

Ineligible Works

  • ➢ Routine repair and maintenance works
    ➢ Works relating to health & safety and statutory requirements e.g. disabled access
    ➢ Works that will not make a significant contribution to the general environmental enhancement of the area e.g. works to elevations of a property not seen by the public

Assessment Criteria

Projects will be assessed on:

  • ➢ Number of jobs safeguarded/created
  • ➢ Number of buildings improved
  • ➢ Quality of design
  • ➢ Number of businesses who are working in partnership to improve the environmental image

The Grant

Applicants must demonstrate the need for financial assistance. Where such a case has been accepted, applicants can apply for up to £15,000 or 75% of the total eligible project cost depending on which is the least.
